Biography

PAUL WEYLAND’S BIO

Weyland's career began in 1978 as an on-air personality in Austin, Texas. Three years later he decided to switch gears and began selling broadcast advertising. Throughout the 1980s and much of the '90s, Weyland practiced relationship selling and managed to become the top biller in the Austin market.

In 1995 Weyland began to teach Media Sales at The University of Texas while simultaneously maintaining top biller status.

In the summer of 1997, Weyland accepted a two-year overseas assignment to manage and train European broadcasters in Prague, Geneva and London.

In February of 2000, he launched his own company. Since its inception, Weyland has educated and entertained advertisers and broadcasters on logical ways to market and advertise in markets across the world.

Weyland is published in Radio Business Report and Radio Ink magazines and is currently writing two books titled, Why Advertising Doesn't Work and The Book on Local Direct Broadcast Sales. He can be reached at paul@paulweyland.com.

Interests

I enjoy listening to music, especially old country, blues, jazz and hard rock. The iPOD is a fabulous thing and a great tool for frustrated ex-disc jockeys like me. I like reading which I do mostly on airplanes. I quit working on the plane. As much as I travel for business I still love traveling with my wife/best friend, Nancy (Fancypants). Fishing is something I'd like to do more of. I have a great dog named Winnie the Pooh. She's half Australian Shepherd, half Border Collie. She dives six feet to the bottom of the pool to retrieve a rubber torpedo. Amazing. I love films and I use Netflix. I play drums and still have a great set in the house. I dabble with guitars and I'm learning to play Bob Dylan songs on the ukelele.
